We are dedicated to uplifting our youth by providing them with educational resources and essential services to not only survive, but to become successful and productive individuals.
What We Do
Chuckie’s Angels is a non-profit organization that advocates for the underprivileged youth of Baltimore. We provide educational and eventually housing services to youth in need. Baltimore has the highest drop out rate and lowest graduation rate in the state of Maryland. Our goal is to assist these youth in obtaining their high school diplomas and preparing them for success through mentorship, counseling, job training, and interviewing skills.
Why We Do It
There are hundreds of homeless youth fighting to survive everyday around the world, the United States, and the state of Maryland. The city of Baltimore alone has hundreds of homeless youth who have no place to call home, nor do they have the resources to get into a better situation, allowing them to get out of this cycle of poverty. Homeless includes runaways who left their homes voluntarily, those who were thrown out of their homes, those living on the streets or in shelters, those who have run away from foster care/homes and those living with family/friends temporarily. According to a 2011 Johns Hopkins study conducted by the Bloomberg School of Public Health, there were 640 homeless youth in Baltimore between the ages of 13 and 25. These numbers have increased significantly since 2009 where there was a count of 426. The numbers will not change unless several things are done which was the reason why Chuckie’s Angels came into existence.
Services will include individual and group counseling, mental health evaluations, financing/budgeting, interviewing/resume writing skills, fafsa application completion, GED/HS diploma attainment, tutoring, college enrollment, parenting courses, career/education workshops, driver’s license attainment, employment attainment, health education, and etiquette classes including social cues and appropriateness. Once we secure a house, we will be housing youth in need of a home.
